Type 1.5 diabetes also known as Slow Onset Type 1 and LADA (Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults) is used for adults who are diagnosed with diabetes, they don’t need insulin and are not even overweight and have no resistance to insulin. When special tests were done on them it was found that have antibodies especially GAD65 that attack their beta cells. Type 1.5 diabetes is found in people who are older than 25 years and it is also found in people as old as 80 years. The onset of Type 1.5 diabetes is slower in adults than in youngsters and you can control it without going on insulin as your body can still make its own insulin but when your sugar levels gets out of control then you can opt for insulin with proper exercise regime.
