Gestational diabetes menu plan is very essential for pregnant women and her unborn baby. You need to have a proper meal planning which requires eating healthy foods with required exercises.
The gestational diabetes menu will differ from one woman to another so you need to plan your diet by taking help from your doctor. You can have your own personalized menu for which you need to consider few things like best food selection for gestational diabetes, maintaining the required body weight so that your sugar level is under control , consulting your doctor regularly regarding your health and diet and last but not the least doing proper exercise regularly.
An ideal gestational diabetes menu will spread out in smaller meals 5 to 6 times a day and must avoid eating in one seating and having carbs alone will shoot up your blood sugar level. You also have to avoid eating processed and refined sugars and increase your protein intake by 10 gms per day.

1. Have a low sodium diet and avoid eating canned soups and other canned products which have lots of salt.
2. Decrease your consumption of sugar by having sugar free drinks, ice creams, cakes, pastries and cookies.
3. Avoid fried foods, drink low-fat milk, reduce the consumption of red meat and if possible eat only white meat and don’t eat butter.
4. Increase your consumption of high fiber meal like fruits, vegetables, grains, pasta, cereals , peas and whole grain bread to name a few of them.
You should also drink lots of water as when you exercise you loose water from your body and you cannot compensate it by just drinking juices.
