Easy and free Indian recipes for diabetes

A large number of people around the globe are affected by diabetes mellitus. It is categorized in type1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Type 1 diabetes is also known as juvenile diabetes which is caused (many times) due to hereditary reasons. In this type, the body doesn’t produce or stop registering to insulin.

Type 2 diabetes occurs when people condition their body in such a way that it cannot register insulin. Lack of physical activity and obesity can lead to this diabetes. There is no stated cure as yet for diabetes.

But, people shouldn’t lose heart on this as its harmful complications can be avoided by keeping the blood glucose in check. There are special recipes which diabetic people can eat. Some of the easy and free Indian recipes for diabetics include:

  • The recipes mentioned here are worked to suit the demands of a diabetic and include low amount of fat and is made from ingredients which are low in carbohydrates. The starters include Mooli Salad, Mint and Masoor cutlets, Fruity Chana Salad and Hara Bhara Kebabs.
  • The salads contain a lot of flavours and can be eaten at the start of the meal or even as whole meals. The sprouts and vegetables used in these salads are high in fibres which can help the taste, stomach and glucose levels of all diabetics. These include Mooli Salad, Karela Theplas, Fruity Chana Salad and Jamun Raita.
  • For the main course the different vegetables and cereals which can be eaten by any diabetic with the advantages of lowering the blood glucose levels are Carrot Methi vegetable, Varagu pulao and Karela Kadhi.
  • The most important meal of the day is breakfast. A good start of the day can be done by any diabetic by having Varagu Upma, Green Pea and Chana Dal pancakes. These can be taken instead of high calorie and fat inducing breakfasts which carry the risk of hypoglycaemia with them.
  • Desserts are a very tempting way to end any meal. The desserts for diabetics could be Malai Peda, Shrikhand and Apple Rabadi.
